April and May will be two of our busiest months. It's prime time for local elections and town meetings, legislative action in Augusta, contacting legislators to support the For the People Act (H.R. 1/S. 1), and coming together for our biennial Convention. Let's get to it. 

Advocates, lawmakers, and Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows will be speaking in support of legislation to bring online voter registration to Maine at a public hearing before the Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee this morning at 10:00 a.m.

While we're keeping an eye on Federal bills, we're also keeping an eye on several bad photo ID bills that would restrict voters from participating in our elections. We're also gearing up to testify in support of the OVR bill. 

Online voter registration is a safe, efficient, and convenient way for eligible individuals to register to vote. It’s time for Maine to join the 40 other states that offer online voter registration, but we need your help to make this a reality. 

We're tuning in to the hearing on D.C. Statehood, celebrating the win over LDs 2 and 102, and prepping to oppose several bad photo ID bills.

If you were a fan of the old 1901 Maine state flag, then we have some sad news. The flag bill was rejected in the Maine House. But there's some good news as well — it's Statehood Day!

Check out what we have planned for April. Susana Hancock, who facilitates the state league's Outreach and Education team, will be our guest at the next Midcoast meeting. 

The League reported that through 8:00 PM on Election Day, polling in the Senate District 14 special election has successfully concluded. We monitored all 11 polling sites in the District. 

This week we need our League members more than ever. We have 4 vital Take Action items, ranging from urging your U.S. Senators to support the HR 1 to getting LD 2 across the finish line.
